The management of the Federal University of Kashere in Gombe State has dismissed as false reports circulating on social media alleging that the institution was attacked by bandits.
In a statement signed on Saturday by the university’s Chief Information Officer, Janet Ezekiel, the management described the report as entirely fake and a deliberate attempt to cause panic among students and disrupt the ongoing first-semester examinations.
The statement clarified that there was no attack on the university, urging the public to disregard the misinformation.
According to the management, the incident referred to in the viral post was a local clash between youths of Jauro Buba and Garin Rigiya villages, and not an attack on the university community.
The university added that security agencies have since restored calm to the area, with the police confirming that the situation is now under control.
The management further reassured parents, guardians, students, and the general public that the Federal University of Kashere campus remains safe and secure, and that academic activities, including examinations, are continuing without disruption
