The Bureau of Public Service Reforms, in collaboration with the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, has commenced a verification exercise for the payment of severance benefits to disengaged staff of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

The Director-General of the Bureau, Mallam Dasuki Arabi, disclosed this while inspecting the zonal verification centre in Gombe, covering the six states of the North-East geo-political zone.

Mallam Arabi said the exercise is to capture staff disengaged from service in 2005, 2006 and 2007 who are yet to be fully paid their entitlements.

He added that the exercise is taking place simultaneously across the six geo-political zones of the country.

He also confirmed that officials from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation are in Gombe to verify the actual number of affected civil servants.

Speaking on behalf of the disengaged staff, Muhammad Abubakar commended the Federal Government for facilitating the payment of their long-outstanding severance benefits.
