The Gombe State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to continued partnership with the World Bank to promote sustainable development.
The Commissioner for Water, Environment and Forest Resources, Alhaji Mohammed Sa’idu Fawu, made this known while declaring open a four-day training for enumerators on the third-party assessment of ACReSAL projects in Gombe.
He disclosed that the state has received over 27 million dollars under the project, benefiting more than 930,000 people and improving land management across 64,000 hectares.
The Gombe State ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Dr. Sani Adamu Jauro, said the training is aimed at reviewing achievements and identifying challenges for effective implementation.
He explained that the exercise will provide an objective assessment of the programme and help build trust among donors, government, and the public.
Dr. Jauro commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his strong political will, which he said has contributed to the success recorded so far. He also expressed optimism that the outcome of the assessment could attract more funding.
He urged enumerators to remain fair and professional, while calling on benefiting communities to cooperate and provide accurate information.
In a goodwill message, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Dr. Barnabas Malle, said Gombe’s selection reflects the commitment of the state government and the ACReSAL team.
Speaking on behalf of the World Bank Task Team Lead, Mrs. Joy Iganya Agene, Mr. Joseph Aba emphasised the importance of the exercise and urged participants to take their responsibilities seriously.
In a vote of thanks, a representative of the National Project Coordinator of ACReSAL, Abdulhamid Umar, commended Gombe State for its leadership in project implementation.
