The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE a World Bank supported programme says it has trained over three hundred teachers on digital literacy and entrepreneurship to improve teaching and learning in secondary schools across Bauchi State.
State Coordinator of the project Hajiya Ladi Hamma, made this known while briefing the Emirs of Dambam and Giade on the activities and achievements of the programme in their emirates.
According to her, AGILE has also provided forty thousand naira cash support to over twelve thousand adolescent girls, aimed at encouraging school enrolment, retention, and completion.
Hajiya Hamma further disclosed that the interventions of AGILE in Bauchi State include the renovation of one thousand public schools across the twet local government areas, the construction of forty two new schools, as well as the provision of entrepreneurship skills and financial support to female students to enhance their learning process.
She appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for sustained support to the programme and pledged transparent and effective utilization of the resources allocated to AGILE in the state.
The Coordinator also called for the continued support of relevant stakeholders, especially traditional rulers, to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
In their separate remarks, the Emir of Dambam, represented by the Barade of Dambam, Lamido Musa, and the Emir of Giade, Alhaji Abubakar Sabo, expressed satisfaction with the achievements recorded by AGILE in their domains.
The traditional rulers assured the project team of their readiness to support all initiatives aimed at improving education in Bauchi State, especially in advancing girl-child education.
