The Gombe State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has distributed 965 bags and uniforms to intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise. The distribution is part of early preparations to ensure a smooth pilgrimage.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Sa’ad Hassan, disclosed this during a news briefing in Gombe, where he outlined the level of readiness for the exercise.

He said the board had earlier commenced training for the pilgrims before the Ramadan fast, paused during the period, and has now resumed across local government areas and the state capital.

Alhaji Sa’adu Hassan explained that early preparation would allow for timely submission of pilgrims’ manifest to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and onward transmission to Saudi authorities for proper planning, especially in accommodation arrangements.

He added that the next phase of the programme would include medical screening and immunisation, while female pilgrims would undergo pregnancy tests to ensure compliance with health guidelines.

The Executive Secretary further revealed that each pilgrim would receive two luggage bags, noting that the state has a total of 965 intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

End.
