The member representing Billiri/Balanga Federal Constituency and Minority Whip of the House of Representatives, Ali Isa JC, has called for peaceful coexistence among Nigerians, stressing that unity across political, religious and ethnic lines remains a fundamental responsibility of good leadership.

He made the call while briefing journalists during a Ramadan Iftar and distribution of support items held in his hometown, Cham, in Balanga Local Government Area of Gombe State.

According to the lawmaker, the Iftar was deliberately organised to bring together Muslims, Christians and traditional worshippers as part of efforts to strengthen harmony within the constituency. He noted that inclusive gatherings serve as a practical mechanism for peace building and mutual understanding among people with diverse ideologies.

Ali Isa emphasised that his representation covers all constituents, regardless of religious belief or political affiliation, reiterating his commitment to fairness and equal treatment.

On the political situation within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the federal lawmaker described cross-carpeting as a long-standing feature of Nigeria’s political landscape. He urged party members to remain patient amid ongoing internal challenges, assuring them that the leadership of the party is making efforts to resolve disputes both within and outside the courts.

He expressed optimism that aggrieved members and those who recently defected would return to the party fold after the completion of its congresses and primaries.

Speaking at the event, Sa’adatu Ali Isa, who supervised the distribution of rice, spaghetti and ₦10,000 cash to women selected from various polling units across the constituency, described the gesture as part of a routine empowerment initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable groups during Ramadan.

She called on beneficiaries to continue praying for and supporting the lawmaker, encouraging constituents to channel their concerns and suggestions through appropriate platforms. She assured them that their representative remains accessible and attentive to their needs.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Hamida Usman and Kauna Jauro, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the support, pledging to make good use of the Ramadan assistance. They also urged other political leaders in the state to emulate similar initiatives that promote unity and provide relief to vulnerable citizens.
