The Northeast Development Commission NEDC says its massive investment in the education sector is geared towards addressing the deficit in educational delivery, resulting from the devastating effect of insecurity in the subregion.
The Bauchi State Coordinator of the Commission Alhaji Aliyu Isiaku stated this at the opening of a 5-day training for 200 selected primary and secondary schools’ teachers from Bauchi South Senatorial Zone held in Bauchi.
The training organised by the NEDC through Global Stallion Integrated Services in collaboration with the Bauchi State government is designed to train the teachers on School and classroom management, guidance and counselling, five subjects of mathematics, English, Science and Technology, Agricultural Science, and quality assurance methodology.
Alhaji Aliyu Isiaku said the devastating effect of insurgency and other forms if insecurity had dragged the subregion backwards interms of delivery of quality education, hence its resolve to invest in education being the cornerstone for development and improved security.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB Alhaji Adamu Duguri represented by the Director School Services Malam Zuhairu Usman reminded the participants on the state government’s huge investment in the education sector and wondered why many teachers are showing laxity in the job.
Adamu Duguri who appreciated the NEDC for liberating teachers through such capacity building trainings, called on the participants to step down the knowledge for others to benefit.
On his part, the Training Consultant Dr Auwal Haruna said the capacity building which is taking place simultaneously across all the six states in the subregion, will see 200 teachers from each of the three senatorial zones participating making at total of 600 participants per state.
Dr Auwal Haruna further disclosed that the exercise is an investment towards improving learning outcomes and professional growth of teachers in public schools.
