As part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the Gombe State Youth Parliament has organized a symposium aimed at promoting youth engagement in national development.
With the theme focused on the role of young people in nation-building, the event featured spoken word performances and panel discussions on leadership, security, entrepreneurship, and civic responsibility.
Speaker of the Youth Parliament, Aliyu Danladi, in his opening remarks, said the forum was designed to educate, inspire, and mobilize youths towards active participation in Nigeria’s development, emphasizing that the future of the country rests on its vibrant youth population.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Sani Yakubu Gombe called for the inclusion of youths in governance and policy-making, noting that such involvement is key to fast-tracking development and building a more prosperous Nigeria.
Also speaking, Professor Isaac Edina, who represented the Vice Chancellor of Gombe State University, applauded Nigerian youths for their historical contributions, including their role in securing independence, and urged them to remain committed to national unity and progress.
Participants, including Rukayya Muhammad and Joseph Luka, shared personal testimonies on how the program renewed their sense of patriotism and drive to contribute to societal growth.
The symposium ended with a strong call for youth-centered policies and continuous platforms for engagement to harness the full potential of Nigeria’s young population.
